Adult Advocacy

Living with or just being diagnosed with a mental health issue is often intimidating. Navigating the social services system to get the treatment and support you need can be confusing.

Our adult advocates provide individualized case advocacy for adults within Berks County, as well as to residents of Wernersville State Hospital.

Services

  • provide information about mental illness, treatment options, and services available

  • refer and help clients obtain and keep health insurance, counseling, treatment, and medication(s)

  • help clients deal with any housing, employment, transportation, and legal issues/difficulties

  • accompany clients for court and social service agency appointments as needed

  • visit community organizations serving adults with mental illness to offer outreach, support, and services

Help with Mental Health Advanced Directives

What is it?
A Mental Health Advanced Directive is a tool that focuses on wellness and recovery planning, promoting planning ahead for the mental health services and supports that an individual might want to receive during a crisis if they are unable to make decisions.
